      What is a Night Guard?

A night guard, or occlusal splint, is a thin, removable dental appliance that you can wear to help reduce the grinding and clenching pressure you put on your teeth. Typically made of a combination of hard acrylic, soft polyurethane, and hard copolyester, a night guard helps prevent breakage and wear as well as protect your jaws from pressure.

Your dentist may recommend a night guard for you if you suffer from a condition called bruxism, which is characterised by night-time teeth grinding and clenching. Bruxism is a very common sleeping disorder caused by breathing related disorders, sleep disorders, airway obstruction, stress, tension, and anxiety. This also causes you to wake up with aching jaws and teeth.

Let us help you with Night Guards

By wearing a night guard, you prevent your upper and lower teeth from making contact and having friction, which can damage teeth. Wake up with no pain and still with your teeth intact.

        Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I have bruxism?

You may have bruxism if you wake up with sore jaw muscles and a headache due to the tension on your jaw muscles as you clench and grind your teeth during sleep. Another tell-tale sign is if you have loose, worn out or cracked tooth. You may also find yourself being woken up or told by your partner about grinding your teeth while you sleep.

        How safe are night guards?

Night guards are specially designed to protect your teeth. They are also custom-designed to fit snugly onto your teeth to reduce the risk of swallowing or choking. They are also made of copolyester, acrylic, and polyurethane which are made to be BPA-free and non-allergenic.
